Brighton is a beachside suburb in Adelaide's south-west, centred on Jetty Road and the Brighton jetty, with the Esplanade, Brighton railway station and Kingston Park nearby. It has a mix of beach cottages, large modern homes near the water and family houses on the quieter streets back towards Brighton Road.
Homes near the beach range from renovated 1920s bungalows and mid-century houses to recently built two-storey homes with carpeted upstairs bedrooms and stairs over hard floors downstairs. Further back there are solid family homes from the 1960s and 1970s with carpet through the bedrooms and often the lounge. Carpet types are mixed: wool in the older renovated homes, durable nylon or triexta in the new builds. Holiday rentals and beach houses used part of the year are common, and many households have dogs that walk the beach daily.
Sand is the signature Brighton problem. It comes in on feet, towels and dogs, works down into the pile and acts like sandpaper on the fibres, leaving carpet gritty underfoot and dull. Salt air adds a fine film that attracts soil. Wet dogs after a beach walk bring damp and smell into bedrooms and hallways. Holiday rentals need carpet refreshed between guests. Stairs in the two-storey beach homes wear in a lane down the middle of each tread.
A deep pre-vacuum matters more here than anywhere, because sand has to come out dry before any water goes on. We then pre-spray and extract thoroughly, with extra attention to entry points and the hallway from the front door. A deodorise treatment handles the wet-dog note. Stairs are extracted by hand tool. For holiday properties we work to changeover dates and leave the carpet dry enough for the next guests within hours. Scotchgard is worth considering on beach-house carpet, because it slows the way salt film and sand bond soil to the fibre between cleans.

Brighton questions
Yes, that grit is fine sand sitting deep in the pile where a household vacuum does not reach. We pre-vacuum with a commercial machine, then the hot water extraction flushes the rest out of the base of the fibres. The carpet should feel soft underfoot again, and regular cleaning slows the wear sand causes.
Yes. Tell us the checkout and check-in times and we will schedule the clean in the gap. We extract thoroughly so the carpet is dry well before the next guests arrive, and a deodorise treatment freshens rooms that have had beach towels and sandy feet all week.
