The smell is not in the pile you can see. It is in the backing and underlay the urine soaked into. We treat that layer with an enzyme solution, then extract, so the odour goes rather than hides.

Quick answer
Pet urine treatment with Carpet Rescue is an add-on to a carpet clean: from $40 per affected room on top of the room price ($45 per bedroom, $120 minimum booking). Affected areas are found, flooded with an enzyme solution that breaks down the urine salts in the backing, left to dwell, then extracted with hot water. Fresh accidents usually clear in one treatment; old, repeated spots that have reached the underlay can need a second visit.
When a dog or cat urinates on carpet, only a little stays in the fibres. Most of it goes through to the backing and into the underlay, and sometimes the floor underneath. As it dries it leaves urine salts and uric acid crystals behind. A surface clean, a supermarket spray or a hired machine removes what is in the pile and leaves the crystals in the backing, where humidity reactivates them. That is why the smell returns on a warm day or a damp winter morning.
Enzyme treatment works differently. The enzymes digest the uric acid and urine salts so there is nothing left to reactivate. It has to reach where the urine is, which means enough solution to get through to the backing, enough time to work, and then thorough extraction to remove the broken-down residue.
Cat urine is more concentrated and the smell is more persistent than dog urine, and cats tend to go back to the same spot, so a single area can carry many layers. Dog accidents are usually larger and spread wider but shallower. Puppy and kitten training accidents are typically fresh and spread around the house; an older animal with a health problem leaves repeated, concentrated spots in one or two places. Each pattern changes how much solution and dwell time the job needs, and we plan it on the walk-through.
We treat the carpet and underlay. We do not treat fleas or other pests, which is licensed pest control work, and we do not replace underlay or carpet. If the urine has reached the subfloor on a bad spot, we will tell you and explain what a flooring trade can do.
Pet urine and odour treatment is an add-on to the room clean: from $40 per affected room, on top of $45 per bedroom or standard room and $65 for a living area. A one-bedroom treatment therefore starts at the $120 minimum booking. Rooms with many old spots are quoted on inspection, and we tell you up front if a second treatment is likely.

Common questions
In most cases, yes. The smell lives in the backing and underlay, so we treat that layer with an enzyme solution and then extract. Fresh and moderate accidents usually clear in one visit. Old, repeated spots that have reached the underlay or floor can need a second treatment, and we tell you that honestly on inspection.
Household cleaners and hire machines clean the pile but leave the urine salts in the backing. Humidity reactivates them, so the smell returns on warm or damp days. Enzyme treatment breaks the salts down so there is nothing left to reactivate.
From $40 per affected room, added to the room clean ($45 per bedroom, $65 per living area, $120 minimum booking). Heavily affected rooms are quoted on inspection.
The enzyme products we use are designed for homes with pets and are extracted from the carpet after they have worked. Keep pets and children off the carpet until it is dry, usually 4 to 8 hours, as you would after any carpet clean.
No. Flea and pest treatment is licensed pest control work. We clean and deodorise the carpet; a pest controller treats the infestation.
