Norwood homes range from bluestone villas and sandstone cottages on the quiet streets north and south of The Parade to modern apartments above the shops and newer townhouses on subdivided blocks. The heritage homes often keep carpet in the bedrooms and formal rooms, frequently wool, with timber floors elsewhere. The apartments and townhouses almost always have carpeted bedrooms and sometimes carpeted living areas in a durable nylon or polypropylene, chosen by developers for rental wear.
