Gawler is a historic town at the northern end of the Adelaide metro area, where the North and South Para rivers meet, with a heritage main street along Murray Street and the end of the Gawler train line. It is the northern edge of our service area and mixes grand old stone homes with newer estates spreading toward Evanston and Hewett.
Older Gawler homes are stone villas and cottages with high ceilings, often carpeted in the bedrooms and formal rooms with good-quality wool or wool-blend carpet that owners have kept for years. The newer estates on the town's edges are single-storey family homes with carpeted bedrooms and tiled living areas, usually in builder-grade nylon or polypropylene. Yes, if it is cleaned with proper extraction. We recover most of the water as we go, so the carpet is left damp rather than wet, and we leave windows or a heater and fan arranged to keep air moving. In winter allow a little longer than the warmer months before putting heavy furniture back.
