Springfield is one of Adelaide's most prestigious foothill suburbs, a small enclave of large homes on big, sloping blocks between Mitcham and the Hills face, with the Carrick Hill estate on its doorstep. The streets are wide, the gardens are established and the homes range from grand 1920s and 1930s houses to architect-designed homes from every decade since.
Houses here are large and often on more than one level, which means long carpeted hallways, multiple living rooms, staircases and several bedrooms, with wool carpet far more common than in the suburbs below.
