Tea Tree Gully is the historic heart of Adelaide's north-east, tucked into the foothills below Anstey Hill Recreation Park, with the old village along North East Road and newer housing climbing the slopes toward Banksia Park. Homes range from stone cottages near the old village to 1970s and 1980s brick homes on sloping blocks, many split-level with carpeted stairs between living and bedroom levels. Stairs are cleaned tread by tread, entries and landings get the most attention, and indentations are groomed up as far as the fibre allows.
