Athelstone is the last suburb before the Hills in Adelaide's north-east, tucked against Black Hill Conservation Park and the River Torrens, with Thorndon Park Reserve and Gorge Road close by. It is a quiet, family-oriented suburb with larger homes on sloping blocks and a lot of outdoor life.
Most Athelstone homes date from the 1970s through to the 1990s, with a good number of split-level and two-storey houses built to follow the slope.
