Glenside is a small, leafy eastern suburb between Greenhill Road and Fullarton Road, close to Burnside Village and the Adelaide parklands. The former Glenside Hospital grounds have been redeveloped into a new residential precinct, so the suburb now mixes quiet established streets with brand-new apartments and townhouses.
The established part of Glenside has character bungalows and well-kept 1950s and 1960s homes, many with wool carpet in the bedrooms and formal rooms and polished floors in living areas. The new Glenside precinct is different: apartments and townhouses finished within the last few years, with light-coloured, often solution-dyed nylon carpet in bedrooms and sometimes living areas, carpeted stairs in the townhouses, and a large share of residents who rent or who own as an investment.
New carpet in the precinct is still under warranty for many owners, and most manufacturers specify professional hot water extraction at set intervals to keep that warranty valid. Pale carpet also shows the first traffic lane and the first spilled coffee quickly. In the apartments, limited airflow means drying time matters. In the older homes, it is wool care and lifting years of gentle soiling and furniture marks from a formal lounge without damaging the pile.
For new carpet we use the hot water extraction method that manufacturers specify, with a pre-vacuum, pre-spray and thorough rinse that leaves no sticky residue to attract soil, and we can note the method on your receipt for warranty records. Apartments and townhouses are extracted hard so they dry quickly. Wool in the older homes is treated with wool-safe chemistry, and Scotchgard is available for pale carpets that owners want to keep looking new. Investors who do not live in the precinct can arrange access through their property manager and have the receipt emailed to them for their records.

Glenside questions
Our method is hot water extraction, which is what most carpet manufacturers specify for warranty maintenance. Check your warranty document for the interval it requires, usually every year or two, and keep our dated receipt with it. We can write the method on the receipt if your warranty asks for it.
On pale, new carpet in a busy home it usually is. It does not make carpet stain-proof, but it slows soil from bonding to the fibre and gives you time to blot a spill before it sets. It is applied after the clean, while the carpet is clean and the fibres are open.
